In the fall of 2006 a few gentlemen gathered and began researching fraternities on campus. After deciding that the fraternities in existence at the time didn’t offer what they felt they needed they began researching other fraternities and one stuck out from the rest, Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity, Inc. This fraternity aligned with their values, two being their dedication to the community and the betterment of the Latino Culture.

On January of 2007 they became officially recognized through the university and the fraternity as the Interested Men of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity, Inc. at the University of Idaho. Throughout the semester they worked on many projects ranging from community service, to educational workshops, and fundraisers. In the summer three gentlemen traveled to San Francisco to meet up with some of the brothers at the San Francisco State University and University of San Francisco Metro Colony, now the Gamma Zeta Chapter of Lambda Theta Phi. This not only allowed them to learn more about the fraternity but motivated the gentlemen even more.

In the fall of 2007 they gathered and began recruiting for the interest group to find more gentlemen that would align with their ideals. All the hard work would finally pay off. In the spring of 2008 the University of Idaho saw the birth of a new fraternity on its campus. On March 13, 2008 its two Founding Brothers established Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity, Inc. University of Idaho Colony. After over a year of hard work and dedication their dream came to true, to establish a fraternity that would bring forward change and service to the Moscow Community as well as its peers at the University of Idaho.

After another year of hard work and dedication from the brothers and the interested men, in the spring of 2009 five brothers were inducted into the colony known as our Beta Line. With the addition of more brothers we worked hard in our community establishing a new philanthropy Gamma Lambda Toy Express to collect toys for the underprivileged children of the Palouse. In the spring of 2010 we inducted our Gamma Line consisting of two hard working and dedicated brothers. The rest of the semester the nine brothers worked hard on their community service, and fundraising efforts.  In the summer of 2010, after two years of hard work the University of Idaho Colony became the Gamma Lambda Chapter. In the fall of 2010 our Delta Line was inducted into our chapter consisting of four new brothers. After three and a half years our Epsilon Line was inducted into our chapter bringing with it our first "solo" brother in chapter history. In the Spring of 2015, our Zeta Line was inducted into our chapter with 2 new brothers. In the Spring of 2016, our Eta Line was inducted into the chapter with 4 new brothers.

Gamma Lambda was the first entity of Lambda Theta Phi in the Northwest and in the state of Idaho opening this region up for more expansion and aiding in the creation of two other entities; Oregon State University Colony and Idaho State University Colony. After years of hard work in the Northwest and with the establishment of a newly created Idaho Sector 1, a creation of new entity was established on the campus of the University of Washington, further opening the doors here in the Northwest for Lambda. In the Spring of 2016, history was made in the Pacific Northwest once again with the addition of two entities to our region, Boise State University and Eastern Washington University.
